Some are wondering if these unfortunate Diablo 4 players

Unlucky Diablo IV Gold player forced to fight world boss alone

Some Diablo 4 players showed up for the game's world boss event, only to find that no one was there, forcing them to fight the massive tempo alone. Now, some are wondering if these unfortunate Diablo 4 players are experiencing a bug, or if not enough people are playing the game.

World boss events are one of Blizzard's much-hyped new features ahead of Diablo 4's launch. The purpose of these multiplayer encounters is to pit players against a massive, challenging demon with the help of random people around the world. A typical world boss takes around 8 to 12 players to take down, depending on how powerful each one is, but it's also possible for some players to take down one of these monsters alone. For the first month or so of Diablo 4's release, every world boss event had a large number of players coming out to take down the Archdemon. Today, that no longer seems to be the case.

Reddit user Equivalent_Try_0492 posted a video in which they are forced to fight world bosses alone in Diablo 4. In the video, they ride to the event area with no one else waiting to get in on the action. Luckily, Equivalent_Try_0492 has an incredibly powerful build, so when the world boss appears, it will be destroyed in about 30 seconds. According to Equivalent_Try_0492, this is the first time something like this has happened, and they noted that there were a lot of people in the PVP and Hell Tide events.

Equivalent_Try_0492 isn't the only one reporting having to deal with this issue in Diablo 4, others in the comments have voiced the same type of story. Some comments mentioned that they will appear very early, cannot find anyone, and then be wiped out because their characters are not strong enough to face the world boss alone. One commenter even mentioned that they've played a few Legion events recently and they came up empty as well. The consensus among those forced to complete these activities alone is that there aren't enough people playing the game anymore.

Some fans may be wondering if these phenomena are due to a bug in the game that causes players to appear to be alone, but looking at the numbers, Diablo 4's player base has dropped dramatically recently. Diablo 4's daily viewership on Twitch dropped from nearly 1 million to about 13,000 in August, according to a third-party analytics service. This could be due to Diablo 4 Season 1 being less popular, or the fact that games like Starfield and Baldur's Gate 3 are getting a lot of attention. Regardless, if Blizzard doesn't find a way to get fans back into Diablo 4 soon, the World Boss event will be meaningless to most players.
